For a serious musician or band, it is not enough to write good songs, they need to be heard. There are many ways to work on what you need to do. The key is to focus on the aim of how to promote my music. It is necessary to have a plan or strategy of how to build a following of people who will also enjoy your music. Recording and publishing music, and performing live are the main two routes to success. But to be successful a band or musician needs to market themselves and treat self promotion as a separate activity.

Playing live is one of the simplest ways of promoting yourself. If you are a new band or just starting a solo career, it can be better to take a support slot with a better known band. Allowing site visitors to subscribe to a mailing list allows them to follow the band online and forward this information on their friends.

There are various sites which allow bands to provide their songs online for downloads and can provide an income to the band or musician. Strong links to these sites from the musician's or band's own website can help generate more interest in what they create.

In order to meet the challenge of promote my music, the band or musician who generates a strong brand locally and online will make a lasting impression. Using a variety of methods broadens the appeal and raises awareness of the band or individual to the widest possible audience. As the band or individual becomes more successful they can then focus on the ways that they have found work best to allow them to promote their sound.
