37 Critical Food Items For Survival

By Luke Franklin

The UN claims that Food production must double by 2050 to meet the demand of the worlds growing population. However, most of the worlds productive farmland is already in use, so increased food production will require extending intensive farming methods with greater use of pesticides and fertilizers leading to the increased release of greenhouse gases. Paradoxically, UK government policy is attempting to deal with both of these problems simultaneously with plans to "boost food production in Britain and reduce its impact on the environment". Is this realistic, or is there an easier way?
Click Here For [37 Critical Food Items]

Growing a plot of vegetables 15 feet by 15 feet will produce enough food to feed your family while fresh, and many pounds left over for preserving. Freezing and drying are two methods of preservation; however, many nutrients can be lost during those processes. To retain the most nutrients and extend the life of home grown vegetables and fruits, canning is the best method of preservation.Based on this information it is possible to draw up a list of obligations that could be imposed on the food industry to significantly reduce food waste.

Retailers should be obliged to stock a proportion of food, that would be presently rejected due to appearance, but otherwise meets safety standards. This could be marketed as cheap 'sustainable' produce in addition to, or possibly in preference to expensive organic foods which are of dubious health and environmental benefits.Hotels, Restaurants and other communal places of eating could purchase this sustainable produce to meet their environmental targets. The food could can be re-cut for aesthetic value or simply merged with other foods in pies & stews etc.Retailers should be obliged to sell all stocked food by a 'use by' date or pay a tax that should be set high enough to discourage waste. One method of achieving this would be to introduce a variable pricing mechanism based on the demand throughout the sale period which is gradually reduced to near zero by the use by date.

Damaged packets should be re-labelled as low carbon pet food or animal feed if this doesn't endanger safety, or if this is not possible, biodegraded using composting and anaerobic digestion to produce methane for fuel and enrich agricultural soil.To avoid consumer waste, all foods should be purchasable in smaller amounts at a constant unit price and separated into compact sealable units to ensure they are kept fresh as long as possible. This would avoid excess buying which often leads to waste.Retail policies that lead to excess buying should be discouraged. These include moving items around the store and placing essentials at the rear of store to encourage coverage and residence time. Retail promotion and prominent positioning that encourages purchasing should also be reserved for sustainable products.

Finally, including children it is estimated that we eat on average about 2320 Kcal/day/person in the UK. This, could be an underestimate, yet is still 10% more calories than is necessary for an average persons recommended intake based on the UK age distribution and gender and reference nutrient intake tables. In addition to placing extra strain on the food supply chain, this can lead to a variety of health problems for individuals who eat far more than their required intake. In total, according to these calculations only about 45% of the food actually farmed is actually necessary for adequate nutrition, and most of the remaining 55% of waste is preventable, amounting to the equivalent of 72 million tonnes of greenhouse gases per year in the UK. This is approximately 10% of the total UK output and almost as much as its entire transport system. There have been previous initiatives to reduce food waste. The official UK government line is that "most of the major supermarket retailers in the UK....have committed to work with the Government's waste-reduction program (WRAP) to identify ways they can help us, their customers, to reduce the amount of food thrown away".

Health advice needs to consider promoting more durable foods in preference to perishable fruit and vegetables if these offer a more practical, equally nutritious and 'low carbon' alternative.Temperature sensitive strips could be placed on selected packages that warn the consumer if the fridge thermostat has been set too low.Set tough annual targets for reduced waste throughout the food industry. These measures should increase the worlds food supply by reducing food waste rather than increasing production with a corresponding benefit for the environment. To grow an abundance of tasty fruits and vegetables, use natural fertilizers to increase nutritional value, and enhance taste.Canning foods requires several basic steps like,Choosing the right jars and lids to ensure freshness over time,Boiling and sanitizing these materials adequately to ensure bacteria does not grow,Using only fresh and washed foods,Preparing the foods properly. Each food requires a different method of preparation. Conducting the right research before hand is essential. There are several resources that describe the best and most effective canning processing methods to help you store and preserve foods in case of a food shortage. The global food shortage and rise of food prices will eventually affect every consumer. The time is now to take action to prevent the food crisis from affecting you and your family.

Reviewing Online Guitar Lessons

By Kimber Loeffel

Online guitar lessons allows you to take a look at development along with boost your guitar skills at your own pace. Coming from students having more extra time to occupied business people, online guitar lessons give you the flexibility for taking these lessons on your personal time frame. A bad thing is you can not access without having a laptop or computer and internet.

These online musical classes are just like classes associated with private courses and schools everywhere. Even though everything is online, you may get the exact same content and exercise required to learn the guitar, that you simply acquire in private courses. Instruction is provided in video format and may include online workbooks and material. The only thing this is a problem is that you must sign on each time you choose to remember how to play a chord. By using private courses that you are offered hard copies, where you have access to pull it out when ever. A favorite feature is online community forums created so you can make friends as well as engage with your "friends". You can work together and send advice to each other. Usually there are some options that enable you to communicate with online course instructors as well. If you are having problems reading sheet music, mastering finger location or strumming technique, these online course instructors are available to help you at any time, anywhere. A negative thing is you can't get help immediately. as you do in a private lessons. It might take an hour or two or perhaps a couple of days.

Learning how to play the guitar is a hassle for anyone. Every guitarists had to begin somewhere. Often the greatest impediment to learning to play the guitar is the lack of direct support. If there is no one to provide you with tips or help you with what you're doing, it's a irritating experience. Ask almost any expert guitarist, they will all say the same thing.

Online guitar lessons walk you through your entire course of action, from learning the chords to playing outstanding solos. All online lessons can accommodate any kind of skill level. Whether you are a novice who is picking up a guitar the very first time to an advanced guitarist that should freshen up on the core, you may be certain to find a course that suits your needs. It requires you through the same method that private classes. Online guitar lessons won't work for everybody, there are numerous people who favor one-on-one interaction instead.

Online guitar lessons are very effective in teaching anyone how to play the guitar. They're highly modern in teaching their students how to play the guitar. I hoped this review served on understanding learning about online guitar lessons. There are benefits and down sides on taking online guitar lessons or private lessons, depending which route you decide to choose.

All You Need To Know About Video Game Parental Locks

By Georgetta Tonozzi

From college dorm rooms to the defense department, video games are buzzing and beeping away everywhere! People use them to get smarter, escape reality or improve their ability to do just about anything. To learn more about getting your game on in new and improved ways, check out the following article.

Find a few gaming bloggers you enjoy. If you have a job, you are likely not into games as much as you'd like to be. Gaming bloggers, however, often have more time to delve into the industry and pass on information to you. Bloggers can help you find great games and also help you figure them out once you've got them.

Monitor your child's video game playing. Video games are now rated just like movies and that can help. This allows you to monitor the content your child is exposed to. Depending on your child's age, keep him away from games that are intended for those who are more mature than him.

Create a video game schedule for your children. Just like mandatory homework time, this video game schedule will help take control of a youngster's habits. When the times have been set, stick to the schedule. Don't back down because of whining or begging. The schedule is only effective if you follow through.

If you are an avid gamer, go to the mall and look for stores which sell games that are used. This can give you a large discount of sometimes 50-75% of the original price, which can allow you to purchase a larger percentage of games during the course of the year.

Wait for game of the year editions of major titles. These often come out a year or more after the original title, but include a lot of the downloadable and extra content that was released in stages after the initial title. These games offer a lot more bang for the buck.

Read reviews of games before you purchase them. You may be waiting for the new shooter game to come out, but if you buy it without reading reviews, it will be a huge waste of time. Check out at least three to five reviews before putting your money down on a game you won't like.

Play your video games on a great television or computer monitor. The graphics in the game are only as good as the equipment you use. Make sure that your tv screen or computer monitor displays colors well, has a great deal of definition and delivers great sound. That way you can get the most from your games.

Don't waste your money on survival guides. Video games are expensive, buying a guide on top of the video game makes them even more so. You can find free, in-depth guides online for just about any video game. Before you pay fifteen to thirty dollars for something you might not need, check online.

When you buy used video games, always check the disc before they sell it to you. Getting home to find out that the game is scratched and doesn't work is a pain. You'll waste time and gas going back to the store. Plus, you may only be able to get store credit back and this could be the only copy they had. Make sure you're getting a good copy.

Stay at home and save money by playing video games with your friends. Many people use these games as a form of entertainment. Most games nowadays are available to play online with others. You can also chat with your friends while playing. Cut back on expenses by staying home and playing games.

You can develop problems with your wrist and fingers with excessive game play. A good way to minimize the fatigue and problems associated with this, try exercising your hands and wrists with stress balls or other devices. This will allow you to play for longer periods of time and might actually improve your gaming skills.

Get the most for your money and buy video games used. If it isn't necessary to buy video games when they first come out, wait until you can buy a used copy. You will be able to save a little bit of money this way and still enjoy the game.

When buying games online, do not buy from unknown sources. You really have no idea what you are putting in your system. Never purchase or download games from a TOR site. You are risking turning your gaming console into a brick. They could contain malicious code that will compromise your system.

Set limits with your children and their gaming activities. It can be easy for kids to get caught up in a game and spend hours playing. Kids need to have limits on their gaming. Maybe an hour a day or every other day would be a good limit to place on a child.

If you choose not to preorder (or just forgot to), you can maybe still benefit the first day or two a game comes out. Many retailers bundle a freshly released game with a gift card or certificate worth ten or twenty dollars. This can make buying a new game at launch much cheaper.

Never let anyone make you feel like less for playing video games. While it is important to have a well-rounded life, gaming can easily be a part of that. You don't need to feel like a nerd or anti-social. In fact, gaming can be quite social these days with all the online multiplayer games that exist.

From buzzing, flashing machines that were nearly as big as a car to the amazing systems that now take you to realistic virtual worlds, video gaming has truly evolved into an astounding experience. Hopefully this article has taught you a few things you didn't know about gaming and will make your time at it even more enjoyable.

Preview Of David Bowie's New Album The Next Day!

By Claus Wright

While there have been rumors that rock icon David Bowie, had retired from music, he is now back on the music scene. The living legend has produced a beautiful single 'Where Are We Now?,' which will be on his new record 'The Next Day.'

I first discovered Bowie's pre-released single cruising on autopilot on Vimeo. Although, 'Where Are We Now?' is very low key, it caught my attention and made me wonder how the rest of the songs on'The Next Day' will compare to the first single? So, let's take an in-depth preview of the upcoming album; what we already know about 'The Next Day' album, and some of the rumors surrounding it.

One rumor that has surrounded 'The Next Day,' is that the album is going to be contemplative like the single, while the rest of the songs on the album are faster. In an interview on the Guardian, the producer of the new album, Tony Visconti says, that this is true. Tony, who has worked on 12 of Bowie's previous albums, tells that the new record has 5 fast songs and some mid-tempo tracks that have a mysterious and evocative sound.

Listening to the single 'Where Are We Now?,' you might think that Bowie's music has evolved into a more mellow tune, and that his voice is going to sound old on the new album. Following Tony, that's not the case. However, Bowie wanted to show a more vulnerable side with the first song. So, while 'Where Are We Now?' sounds very low-key, elsewhere on the album Bowie is going to sing in full voice like on the epic 'Heroes' album. According to Tony, Bowie sang so loud on the new album that he sometimes literally had to step away from Bowie in the studio.

The recordings of 'The Next Day' took two years, and was done in NYC's Magic Shop Studios. Following Tony, the people Bowie worked with were all old friends from previous studio recordings and tours. The closed circle made it possible to keep the project secret, quite an achievement in a modern society that gets information through the internet and smartphones.

While, Bowie previous had told Tony that he didn't want to sing anymore, Tony wasn't surprised when Bowie called and said that he wanted to record a new album. Tony thinks, that Bowie's creative mind made it necessary to express himself again as a musician - after 10 years of silence. 29 stunning songs were recorded in the studio, but not all of them fitted the album, which ended up having 14 track, with 17 on the deluxe edition. This means, that Bowie most likely will record a second album later this year. However, the producer doesn't know exactly when. Considering the great reviews 'Where Are We Now?' already has received, this looks good.

Music critic at The Telegraph Neil McCormick, thinks that the new single might just be the most surprising and perfect comeback in the history of rock. He describes 'Where Are We Now?' as a perfect structured song with a poetic mysterious sound, which makes you want to hear more of the songs from the album.

NME Track Reviews, calls the song addictive and a perfectly structured ear worm, which is probably going to feature on greatest hits records some years to come. Listening to 'Where Are We Now?,' you immediately press 'repeat.'

The website Ultimate Classic Rock thinks that Bowie's voice on 'Where Are We Now?' sounds heartening, and also describes the track as an ear worm.

Having heard the song - again and again, I have to agree, and I've been guilty at pressing repeat numerous times. What strikes me, is how the song grows on you. Slowly, it creeps under your skin and becomes very addictive.

'The Next Day' will be on the streets the 8th 2013 in Australia, the 11th in the rest of the world, except USA, where the album is available the 12th.

How To Use A Yamaha Keyboard

By Carol London

A Yamaha keyboard is known for its versatility as well as of ease of use. This is something that has made them very popular with musicians worldwide. The fact that both beginners and advanced users can use them to play and record music makes them an important asset. A person should therefore start by visiting the official website.

Browsing through the various sections in the website provides an opportunity for one to see all the products available. One is also able to look at the features that come with each product. Depending on the ability of an individual as well as his expertise, he can select the product that will meet all his playing needs.

Once it has been acquired, a person should start by reading the accompanying manual. The manual will provide important directions on how to setup and use the device. It also provides the lists of available keys and how they can be accessed and played by the musician.

The individual can then start playing songs in simple voices. While doing so, it will be important to use features such as layering. Layering is a feature that makes it possible to combine a set of instruments in to the song being played by the individual.

Once one has learned how to use the device, the next step is to start recording. For this, a person will have to connect the keyboard to a computer. They must therefore be positioned in such a way that they are easily accessible to each other and that one can use both with ease.

Before connecting the two, the individual will need to visit the resources section in the official website. This is to enable him download the relevant software. It is important to consider the model of the device as well as the operating system that has been installed in the computer.

When done with the software installation, the next step would be to connect the device to the computer. This can be done in a number of ways using the existing ports. Only one port is required to complete the connection between the two devices for use.

For someone who has never played a Yamaha keyboard before, it may be advisable to locate a teacher. Learning from a professional will make the entire learning process simpler and much more fun. It is also important for one to learn how to read and write music especially if he is considering taking music as a profession.

In Depth Preview Of Bowie's record The Next Day!

By Claus Wright

After many years of silence, and rumors about living legend David Bowie's presumed retirement from music, the rock icon has returned to the music scene with the beautiful single 'Where Are We Now?' from the coming album 'The Next Day.'

When I heard Bowie's new single on Vimeo, I was pleasantly surprised. While, 'Where Are We Now?' is low key, it is a beautiful single. I'm very excited to hear the rest of the album, will it live up to the single? Let's do a preview of the coming album. In this 'The Next Day' preview, I go through essential facts and gossip about the album, and analyze the single 'Where Are We Now?.'

According to rumors, 'The Next Day' consists of contemplative tracks, like the single. However, the rest of the songs should be faster. The producer of 'The Next Day' and 12 of Bowie's previous records, Tony Visconti, confirms the rumors in an interview to the Guardian. The new record is going to have 5 blistering tracks, followed by some mid-tempo songs that have mysterious sound to them.

Having heard the single, one could think that Bowie's new album will be more mellow. According to Tony, Bowie is not going to sound mellow or as an old man, on the contrary. In the studio, the singer often sang so loud that the producer had to move away from the singer. On the single, Bowie just wanted to show another musical aspect - a softer side.

'The Next Day' album was recorded secretly over a period of two years in the famous NYC's Magic Shop Studios, says Tony Visconti. It was made by a closed circle of Bowie's old friends. All, with a few exceptions, they are people that Bowie has worked with before on tours or in studios. This is also the reason, why it was possible for Bowie to keep the album release a secret until the last minute. A quite remarkable achievement these internet days, where almost everyone carries a smartphone.

Neil McCormick, music critic at The Telegraph, thinks that 'Where Are We Now?' with its beautiful strange, perfectly orchestrated, sound might be one of the most surprising and perfect comebacks in rock history. Following McCormick, the poetic song has a mysterious sound to it, and it makes you want to hear more from the upcoming album.

NME Track Reviews calls Bowie's single an addictive song. NME Track Reviews describes it as perfectly structured, and a song that should be on future Bowie greatest hits records.

While, Ultimate Classic Rock thinks that Bowie's voice is heartening, and the that the song is a ear worm.

I have to agree. I have heard the song many times, because I had to press repeat - again and again. The song really grows on you, and it is impressive, how it crawls under your skin.

With 'Where Are We Now's?' opening line: "Had to get the train, From Potsdamer Platz," one intuitively thinks back on Bowie's younger years, and his time in Berlin in the 1970's. Between 1976-1979 Bowie lived in Berlin in Germany. In this period, he made his three Berlin albums: 'Low'(1977), 'Heroes' (1977) and 'Lodger' (1979), often referred to as Bowie's 'Berlin Trilogy.' However, on the new song, Bowie reflects on Berlin when the Berlin Wall fell, and Berlin today. One verse, thus, goes like this: "Twenty thousand people, Cross Bosebrucke, Fingers are crossed, Just in case, Walking the dead."

As one of Berlin's seven border crossings during the Cold War, Bosebrucke was used when citizens of the Federal Republic of Germany crossed into East Berlin. The day that the Berlin Wall fell, officially, the 9th. November 1989, the Government of East Germany had given their citizens permission to travel to West Germany. That day East Berliners' gathered in a large crowd, and began crossing Bosebrucke: "Fingers are crossed, Just in case, Walking the dead."

That being said, the song is probably also about Bowie's more personal experiences with Berlin. The music video to 'Where Are We Now?,' therefore, shows the auto repair shop below the apartment, where Bowie lived in the 1970's.

Most Bowie fans have probably spotted that the new front cover is from 'Heroes.' When cover designer on Bowie's new album, Jonathan Barnbrook was interviewed on the website Ultimate Classic Rock, he told how the use of the old cover from 'Heroes' on the new album was done to illustrate the spirit of good rock music as something of the moment, forgetting the past. But, we can never escape the past, and certainly not Bowie, who often is judged by his past history, says Barnbrook. Nonetheless, human conditions still pushes us forward, forcing us to leave the past. With the front cover, Bowie wanted to exemplify this.

'The Next Day' will be on the streets the 8th 2013 in Australia, the 11th in the rest of the world, except USA, where the album is available the 12th.

Getting An Excellent Deal On A Turntable Belt

By Antoinette X. Slater

Turntable parts, such as the turntable belt, are quite important for people who still love to listen to their favorite songs on record players. There are lots more options for individuals when it comes to how they will listen to music than there were in the past, but that has not eliminated the love for the record. The texture and sound of vinyl is so special that many recording artists continue to release their new albums on records in addition to their CD and digital releases. Getting parts for your turntable could be difficult because of the waning popularity of this music form, but Internet stores are still happy to sell such items.

The finest location to shop for a turntable belt is the Internet; there are dozens of online retailers that are dedicated to offering the best quality turntable parts. When you begin looking for stores online, you will likely be bombarded with a long list of different retailers claiming to offer the parts that you need. That is why it is very beneficial to narrow your search options when buying online; entering the specific brand and name of the part you need into a search engine will lead you to the right store much faster than a general term would.

One big motivator for looking for turntable items online is that you can obtain great products at prices that are lower than local stores. Internet based retailers have much lower overhead costs than operators of brick and mortar stores do, so they can lower prices. Some shoppers mention shipping and handling fees as a negative for shopping online, but many Internet retailers are now reducing or waiving shipping fees entirely.

Internet based stores have the special chance to carry a much wider variety of specialized inventory, such as turntable parts, than small local stores would ever be able to. It is not hard to locate a USB turntable, a vintage turntable, a turntable needle, or turntable belts when you buy from well-stocked online stores.

If you are looking for a turntable belt or additional hard to find turntable parts, you should definitely consider buying these parts online. You can get better prices and have the parts shipped directly to your door within just a matter of days, all without ever having to leave your home.

Can You Handle The Difficulty Of Learning To Play Guitar?

By Jeff Yuan

Many people the world over would probably agree that the guitar is a very powerful, emotionally-charged instrument. This is understandable. It may be due to the fact it plays a role in most genres of music.

Many of the lead singers already play guitar. It is common to want to start learning, there are many people who do. Before you attempt to do so, it helps to know that there have literally been millions of people before you who have already learned how - you can, too.

It will take a few things from you if you want to take lessons to begin play guitar. Don't start the task unless you think you can actually face the facts that are listed in this article. If you don't think you can, then save your time and money.

Guitar playing is a challenge, no doubt. It doesn't have to be sugar-coated, it's just the reality of the matter. There are no shortcuts. You may think it looks easy watching your favorite players, but there are thousands of hours of practices and other footage that you don't see, nor do you get to see the countless days and years spent perfecting their art.

It's going to take plenty of hours on end. This has everything to do with what was just mentioned. You won't simply master the guitar in a week. You will have to master your skills over time with plenty of practice. You will need to learn how to tune your instrument, playing the easy chords, and move on to easy songs. This takes effort and time.

You will need, probably above all, to have patience learning to play guitar. You're going to make plenty of mistakes along the way. You may have times wherein you will get so frustrated you just want to stop altogether. The sight of your guitar may become an eyesore when you're getting flustered, and if you quit easily with other things, then these lessons won't do you any good. Keep in mind, however, that all the great players had to face challenges and mistakes along their way to becoming famous.

Another fact is that you will need to manage your own expectations, it will take colossal effort as well as patience on your part. You are going to have to commit to the task, and will have to work through any trouble that you may have along the way when you learn. It can be done in all sorts of ways.

One of the most effective methods to learning to play guitar is to get online and use a course that way.
