How To Master Piano Arpeggios

By Andrea D. Vacchiano

Every now and again, musicians and composers get stuck for ideas when trying to make a song. Alternatively, they may have a song that they feel is too simple. When this happens, many musicians experiment with playing arpeggios to make their music sound a little more interesting. If you are interested in learning piano arpeggios, the information in this article may be able to help.

You might be afraid that it will be too difficult to learn a single arpeggio. Fortunately, this is not the case, and they are fairly easy to learn if you already have some of your chords memorized. This is because an arpeggio is just a chord that is broken down into its separate notes. You just need to play each note from the chord separately to play an arpeggio.

The best way to master each arpeggio is to start out by mastering each chord and memorizing them. However, if you already know a chord, you can learn your first arpeggio if you feel up to the task. Just sit down at your piano, put your hands in the right spot to make a chord that you know, and play each note individually in order that you want.

If you do not know that many chords, but are really interested in mastering each arpeggio, you will need to expand your knowledge. When you know all of the chords, you can create every single arpeggio that there is. This will help you create your own songs and you will be able to be a better musician overall.

Many famous and classic songs include tons of arpeggios, and you may even notice that some musicians play them at incredibly fast speeds. In order to get to this level, you will need to practice regularly. Your fingers will need to get used to playing each chord, switching between them, and hitting the correct notes one at a time when it is time to play an arpeggio.

If you find that you are struggling with gaining both speed and accuracy, there are things that you can do. For example, many people improve their skills by going through dexterity exercises regularly and by warming up before each practice session.

Piano arpeggios can really help you make your songs sound more interesting. Try learning your chords first, and then practice by turning each chord into an arpeggio. You can even have fun by playing each of the notes in different orders.
