Master Scales With Lead Guitar Lessons

By Ben Kruz

With the help of the right lead guitar lessons, people that love to play the lead guitar can move from being novices to being more accomplished players. The first thing that they will need to learn is how to play the pentatonic scale which consists of 5 separate notes. This scale is very easy to learn as well as to remember and every guitarist knows how to use it. It is also important to master the major scale which has everything that the pentatonic scale has plus two different notes as well.

If you wish to master the major scale you will need to begin by learning the C major scale that is actually nothing but all the tones on the white keys of your keyboard/piano. Before actually using the major scale you must have a good idea about what an octave really is. An octave is a note that has twice the frequency of another note. Each note however has one unique name and the octave in fact is half the frequency of the note that precedes it.

Different music scales on a fretboard on your guitar will be nothing other than octaves that are divided into different steps. When people learn Western music they understand that the scales are made up of twelve equal semitones. Also, a single fret is the same as a single semitone and two frets make up a complete and whole tone. Most guitarists choose to play the major scales ahead of any other scales.

You will find other interesting lead guitar lessons that you will need to master including the C major scale. In fact, to play these scales correctly it is necessary to begin with the 6th string which is an open note. Next, you can move on to higher pitched note but at the same time it is also necessary to use up as well as down strokes to pick the strings. The best option is to start with a down stroke played on an E string (open) and then follow this with an upstroke on the F string and then move to the G string and so on.

If you wish to play the major scale in the correct way, start playing the open E string and move to the G note on the third fret of your guitars first string and then reverse the playing. Such form of practice will help ensure that you benefit from using your lead guitar lessons to play the major scale flawlessly.

You must also ensure that you understand all about the different musical notes and you need to also learn to distinguish the octaves for what they are. This in turn means that you will need to learn how to spot when an octave is down or work and after this you will need to develop a pattern and then learn to make best use of it.

The final part about learning lead guitar lessons and especially about playing the major scales is that you have to learn how to make best use of patterns. These are lessons that will prove to be invaluable to you and you must also learn a simple rule that states that you must use one finger per one fret.

Finally, it is necessary to consider learning lead guitar lessons that help you in working with these patterns. One of the simplest such lessons is learning about using a rule that says that you need to use a single fret for each finger.
