How Can Music Be Promoted In Our Days?

By Jack Wogan

Euterpe, seems to be one of the most generous Muses in the Greek Pantheon. She was the goddess of music. Today, when we have forgotten her we can still enjoy the art she inspires. Music seems to have something for every one of us, young or old, savage or civilized, believer or atheist. Even babies react to it and plants and animals respond to it in different ways. Today music has become an industry of billions every year and there are many who try to go in. Today, with all the media, promoting music is easier than ever but equally expensive.

With all the media today, there are many possibilities to promote a band, a singer or a style. There is first of all radio, then television (and especially the music television channels), than concerts, internet, movies and many others. It depends a lot on how much your talent can convince others to support you.

Radio is the oldest promoter of music. Although it has lost a lot of ground after the generalization of television, it has managed to survive an even found new public to address to. In the old days radio had the power to turn an anonymous into a star overnight. Today it can still turn a song into a hit.

The television forced music to become visual. This way, the first music videos came into being. Today music videos are very important, as they have the power to make a good song better or ruin it. The music channels appeared in the last decades have also became great music promoters and they have a lot to say in the industry.

Concerts are very important in the relationship which an artist makes with his fans. Before becoming famous concerts are a good way to get noticed, after they are great ways to promote new albums and celebrate special points in your carrier. In such events the show is very important it is the sound and using good instruments (like the PRS Guitars or effects pedals).

As it becomes more popular every day, internet has become an authority in music also. Today artists often talk about the number of online visualizations and many of them offer online songs on their sites.

Although not exactly a classical way of promoting music, movies have proved to be very efficient in this department. There are many of us who wanted to listen to a song after they heard it in a movie. And what better way to make a song known is there than movies like "Singing in the Rain" or "The Sound of Music" or "Grease" or "Beauty and the Beast"?

These are just the most important ways to promote music today. There are many others. And whenever a song is good, whenever music sounds great, our mind will just stick to it. This is why in music three minutes can mean the difference between anonymous and famous.
