Piano Tuition For Beginners

By Andy Penbram

There are several of you who are trying to find piano lessons for beginners so these are some questions I regularly get asked by would be pianists or keyboard players.

How long will it take?

A ton of people take up the guitar because after only a little while of learning you'll be able to get a decent sound and be playing some popular songs. Normally with the piano it takes quite a long time and needs a large amount of hard work before it is possible to be playing recognisable music. Fortunately now there are a few home study courses that use video and audio to teach you piano in multiple styles or genres. These courses train you to play by ear and the way to read music. With these courses you will be playing recognisable music from the start.

What is the cost of piano classes?

Piano lessons with a private teacher can cost anything from $50 to $100 or more for an hour long session. The bulk of teachers offer one on one lessons in their own houses, in a music center or they'll come to you. Some charge $50 an hour and other people will charge you $200 every month giving you a lesson a week. If you download a home learning course then you'll get much more than a years worth of lessons for less than $50.

Can't you find free lessons on the Internet?

Yes, there are free piano lessons available at 1 or 2 sites. Most of them are actually basic first steps beginners piano classes that only cover the initiation into piano playing and do not go much further. The same may be said for the videos that are found online too... They're going to teach you the basics and little more. There are some videos that teach you a certain song. With most you've got to follow what the person is playing and with others step by step instructions are given. Though there is not any structure to these lessons you ought to be ale to pick up something from them but it won't be a complete coaching.
