The Simplest Way To Learn To Play The Piano

By Andy Penbram

When you have been looking for info on the way to learn the piano you will have been drawn to one of many multi-media piano courses that you can use at home. You could however be more drawn to the concept of employing a regular piano teacher for your lessons. Which ever way you'll soon find out that the basics are the same.

Now for some information for the beginner piano player:

Make sure the basics are covered

Its really important that you start with the fundamentals. Discover all you can about the physical instrument itself like where the notes are, how the pedals work and so on. Understanding how to read music would be of use too , at least at a beginner level and with a hint of music theory too you'll be nicely prepared. Set aside some time every day to practice, find a good piano teacher or a good distance learning course and you will be well prepared.

Make sure you have the right pieces to practice

Making sure you have picked the right pieces to practice and play is vital. It won't help you to select pieces that are too demanding for your level as you won't be in a position to dominate them as you need to and your advancement as a player will be affected and perhaps even your confidence and inspiration too. If you can pick short noteworthy pieces to practice then it will be a lot more simple to get them sounding good, especially if they're short enough for you to memorize. As an element of your practice you could select a few of pieces to learn without music, simply listen to a piece again and again and try to copy it. You can copy just the tune if you wanted or you may even be adventurous enough to try to learn the chords too. By learning to play by ear you'll be developing listening abilities which should be of great use to you later on.

Careful, things might become tough

If you find the training process becomes too hard then know this is normal. There is always a time between beginner level and intermediate level where playing piano can become quite complicated. You will possibly find it a little hard at times. It is presently that a lot of people will give up but you should just try and endure for a little while longer. It may truly appear to you you're not making any progress or that you are going backwards, when this occurs you need to just relax, keep practicing and wait because the brain is still learning and attempting to tell your fingers subliminally what to do. One day it'll all just come together.

Make it personal

Just as when you hear two artists do different variations of the same song and each sounds completely different, you can do the same with the piano pieces you are learning to play. You could try and be experimental and add different rhythms or chords. Dependent on the piano instructor you have got this will be more or less possible but the more fun you may have while learning the better. In order to become a good player you'll have to cover the basics, learn some possibly uninspiring pieces and standard exercises. Do not give up here. Before you go on to higher levels you'll have to endure one or two down times too where it seems you aren't truly learning anything.
