Home Study Piano Lessons

By Andy Penbram

There are a ton of different methods for learning the piano but lately a very common technique is to employ a DVD or a home learning course off the web. The typical individual piano lessons with a piano teacher look to be being replaced by these courses. Previously is has never been a great idea to learn at home but now it is starting to become an OK choice. This is totally due to the rapid improvements in technology enabling you to have what is almost a virtual piano teacher available full time in your own home.

The home study courses are inclined to utilise a study manual supported by some video and sound files to show you what to do, they are going to take you straight from the elementals up to an intermediate level of playing. The method will obviously be different for every individual course.

There are home study programs that may show you how to play classically and there are a couple that train you numerous genres or playing styles. They can also train you how to play by ear and how to play by reading music or chord sheets. Using a distance learning course using this method gives you a great background and will ensure you turn out to be a really flexible player.

The alternative is to see a traditional teacher for one on one lessons. This clearly has its own drawbacks like you can't plan your lessons when ever you have some time nor are you able to go ahead at your own speed as you have to wait till your next lesson and can only move on when your teacher gives the OK.

You can simply give yourself a good basis in piano playing and reach an intermediate level of playing using a home learning course. Basically however you need to pick which is the method best matched to your wishes.

As fast as you do get to the intermediate level then you will without any doubt decide to keep on learning... It is then when you should truly think about going to a personal piano teacher for lessons because the home learning courses are better for beginner and intermediate level players.
