How To Find An Unlisted Number Secrets

By Coleen Kayne

Even with the birth of the Internet, some people these days are still hard to find. Sometimes phone numbers go unlisted, and sometimes phone directories are not updated. So if you're looking for a long-lost friend, or a distant relative that you haven't seen in years and you want to make contact with, then perhaps the best way is to learn how to find an unlisted number.

The first and probably the most crucial step that you have to take is to gather or to try to remember as much information about the person that you wish to contact as you possibly can. Remember to consider the following categories of information: age, area of residence and past addresses, schools attended, graduation years, family members, occupations, and employers. After having an adequate amount of information ready, you can then proceed to searching the person's name on a search engine like Yahoo or Google.

There may be times when the first attempt doesn't turn up any useful information. When this happens, repeat the search with more information attached to the name. You may also enclose the person's name, school, city, and other specifics in closed quotation marks in order to narrow down your search. Social networking websites such as Facebook or MySpace may also be of help as these sites generally contain comprehensive information of many schools. Look in the social networking website that most closely matches the person's demographic.

Apart from the World Wide Web, where people use their phone numbers to register on websites, you may check out your local newspaper, particularly in the classified ads section. Every day, people all over the world unknowingly make their unlisted phone numbers and cell phone numbers publicly available. So be sure to check out the places that they are most likely to make this mistake.

You may also ask around and see if any of your friends or close acquaintances know how to get in touch with this person. You never know what connections you could uncover. If all else fails, you can try hiring a search company. Some of these companies offer their services for free, some do extensive searches for about twenty dollars and up, and others are a little pricey as compared to the rest. Find one whose reputation is reliable by doing some research before shelling out money to pay for this type of service.

This is how to find an unlisted number.
