Beyonce Biography

Beyonce Giselle Knowles, or Beyonce to me and you, was born in 1981 in Houston, in Texas and is an R&B recording artist,fashion designer and actress.

She started singing at a young age and entered into singing and dancing competitions when still a child. She also attended a number of various performing arts schools.

In the 1990s she became the lead singer of the R&B girl group Destiny's child, which first earned her her fame.

She received five Grammy awards for the release of her 2003 debut solo album, Dangerously In Love, which rose to be one of the most successful albums of the year.

Knowles then went on to release her second album, B'Day, in 2006. It reached number one on the Billboard 200 and led to the release of her third album, I am Sasha Fierce, in 2008.

She broke the record for most Grammy Awards won in one night, when the album won her six Grammy Awards.

She continued to record her fourth album, 4, making her the second female artist and third artist in all to have her first four studio albums top the charts.

She has starred in many films, such as Carmen: A Hip Hopera, Dreamgirls, Pink Panther and Cadillac Records. Dreamgirls won her two Golden Globe nominations.

But these are not the only awards she has won. She has a total of sixteen Grammy awards, thirteen of which she has earned as a solo artist. She has been presented with the Billboard Millennium Award for her work in the music industry. She has been branded as the most successful female artist of the 21st century, on top of the top radio artist.

In 2010, Knowles was placed on Forbes list of the 100 Most Powerful and Influential Celebrities in the world in second place and first as the Most powerful and Influential musicians in the world.

Overall, she has sold seventy five million records worldwide, which makes her one of the best selling music artists of all time!
