Finding the Right DJ for Your Occasion

By Brendon Volegna

Disc Jockeys can be of many kinds. You have the radio disc jockey, who choose and broadcasts music on FM, AM, digital, shortwave or some internet music stations. Then you have a club disc jockey and play recorded music in bars, discos, and night clubs. You also have specialty hip hop DJs who use turntables to play that kind of music. They may also resort to starching of the turntable to create a more percussive sound.

Most often, a DJ will provide example of his work without a request to do so. This provider should be able to show you actual video footage of a party that they were a DJ for and offer a portfolio that can show their past work on how everything works. Additionally, it is also best to get a list of the other clients they have work for and possibly obtain their phone numbers and call a few for references.

Becoming a DJ Let's our experienced entertainers create the atmosphere and ambiance to compliment your taste and meet your guest's expectations. Our event DJ's come with an abundance of music, specifically suited to your company event needs and tastes, including selections from the 60's, 80's, Dance, Pop, Rock or any other genre you would like to hear.

A disc jockey's voice must be very sociable and should also carry an attitude, but should not be pompous. Being a disc jockey requires a lot of presence of mind and hard work; for example, if you say something wrong or controversial on the air, you must know how to cover it up and how you can carry on with the show. The radio's target audience ranges from the age of 18-60 years. Accordingly, a disc jockey should have fresh ideas and concepts and a fresh voice to capture listeners of all generations.

There are several things that you should be remembered. The first is the personality; both yours and that of the disc jockey. Of course, the jockey is the center of the action and needs to be able to have the confidence and personality to effortlessly manage that responsibility. However, they also need to be flexible and in tune with you and your guests. If your guest list is conservative, the disc jockey needs to plan the playlist accordingly. In contrast, a young, hip crowd will go to sleep listening to oldies. Also, pay attention to how the person communicates and presents themselves. That will tell you a lot about what you can expect at your event.
