By Mark Ferguson

Any serious music lover should get the best hi fi they can afford. This will mean that their stereo will give them the highest possible quality music output, minimizing distortion and maximizing fidelity to the original recording. Although these top range models will cost more, they will be worth the money if you want the best sounds.

Hi fi is a generic term which generally refers to an audio output device which amplifies sounds produced by individual elements such as cassette and CD players. The more modern versions are capable of transmitting MP3 tracks. The system itself has no intrinsic music files.

The central unit governs all the aspects of the stereo. The individual elements are all connected to it, as are the speakers, which can be set up strategically around a room or house. The controls can usually either be manipulated manually, or via remote.

Music enthusiasts are concerned to make sure that they experience the best possible sound from their home stereo system. This means that they get a sound which is as near as possible to the original recording, with minimal distortion and disruption. The frequency should also be as accurate as possible.

Now to the actual buying of your stereo. As with most electrical equipment, there are myriad stores which supply them, both online and in the high street. Do a lot of research and ask for demonstrations at the shops you actually visit. Most of these employ people with a good knowledge of their products, so will be able to talk to you about what you require.

A music lover should get the best hi fi they can afford. If you are serious about your sounds you will want a stereo which allows you to enjoy them in their best possible quality. It is worth investing the extra funds to get a top of the range system.
