Want to be a DJ? Here's what equipment you will need

By Hayden Stephens

Anyone who is interested in becoming a DJ should know that they will need to buy the right DJ equipment before they can do anything else. If you know someone with aspirations to become a superstar DJ, you could buy them the equipment they need to practice on as a gift.

Those who are new to DJing would not have a clue what to do with some of the more professional and advanced DJ equipment you can buy. This is why you need to start small, building up your DJ set as you grow in skill and confidence. By the time you are ready to go professional and start charging for your services at functions, events and parties, you will be able to afford more high-end DJ equipment.

Your two choices as a DJ beginner are to either buy a DJ equipment starter pack, or to select each individual item yourself. The first is simple and all-inclusive, whilst the latter may require some of your time and a lot of research.

A starter pack is probably the best option if you are a complete beginner and don't know what to look for in DJ equipment. A package of this kind should be perfect for basic practice and for people wanting to DJ as a hobby, as it will contain turntables, headphones and a DJ mixer.

However, if you plan to become a professional DJ who gets paid for performances, you might be better with a collection of DJ equipment that you've chosen yourself. In order to get the best and most suitable kit, make sure you take advice from a DJ equipment expert, or a friend or relative who is a DJ.

It is important to remember that if you plan to be a professional DJ, you won't be able to get away with buying cheap equipment. So, put some money aside, and buy the best quality DJ equipment you can afford.
