Know Which One Of The Connecticut Radio Stations To Listen To

By Elise Clayton

Tune in to the frequency you would like to listen to. Once it hits that number, you should be able to hear it. After a few minutes, you could always point it to another frequency if you do not like it. There are plenty of radio stations Connecticut has available for listeners.

Whether you are online or you have your very own receiver with you, you could always be sure that you would have plenty of choices. You, as a listener, can always tune in or tune out, as you please. To entice listeners to stay in the same frequency, programmers make sure that there is a good match with the format and target audience. Here are only a couple of what can be heard over the airwaves.

You may have the oldies format. A more apt name for this format would be golden hits. In a way this is quite a broad format. Considering that it could range from the 50's to 90's music. What it makes sure is that the old songs played are considered as gold.

There is the personality format. Music can still be heard over this but not as much as other music-intensive frequencies. Entertainment is achieved by letting certain types of personalities be the host, co-host or the guest for their shows. Current events may be parodied and commented on.

There is the rock format. This is quite broad in scope. Many genres and sub-genres may be mixed and matched to blend into a still-rock format. Categorizing the rock format may wall within the different ranges of styles that tie in all artists featured.

You may have the smooth jazz format. This is designed to set a mood of calm and relaxation to its listeners. It is not really designed to invite listeners to really tune in and be active in listening. This is meant to have a more easy going and relaxed atmosphere.

You may have the standards. This type of format plays any song for the past 60 years that is not classified under rock. It may be the popular mainstream music of the previous eras. It could even include recent interpretations of the standards from a certain period.

You could go with urban. This could include soul, r and b, hip hop and rap. Certain mixes and matches could happen to make sure that their target demographic, young adults and teenagers, are tuned in. If they want to be appealing to adults, they could include soul and rhythm and blues hits that date back 20 years or more.

Those are only a few of the formats that are currently used by radio stations Connecticut. With all those different formats, you would be able to find one to suit your everyday mood. But, if you want to keep your dial to one frequency, just figure out your tastes and personality and you should be able to find the frequency just right for you.
