I haven't listened to anything that would test the sound quality tremendously, but what I have listened to is fine. It may be a little light on bass effects in movies, but OK for music. For those listening to passive sound sources (stereo, iPod) you can't go wrong. For those watching TV, as long as your TV or other equipment has delay compensation, you'll be fine, too.
The wireless range extends through multiple walls (YMMV). I've had these about a week and I think they're great. The sound is excellent. The controllers are much better indexed than those on the 140.
I'm not a big fan of the button system though. For one, you shouldn't have to press two buttons to turn it on. I've got these headphones around Jan 5, 2011. These are my first pair of over the ear headphones (I've used IEMS and ear buds before) and first wireless headphones.
Well, even though I was expecting a good overall experience with the product, my expectations were more than satisfied. The wireless headphone system has excellent sound and reception. Another flaw - ALC button (to boost speech range)is located on transmitter only, so you have to walk to it to turn it on if you have a hard time hearing dialogs in movies. This is why I gave it 3 out of 5 for ease of use. I use these for watching TV when my wife has gone to bed or play my video game when so she can listen to the radio and we don't compete with each other for sound. I have to say the sound quality is there. I can walk into other rooms on the same floor without drop-off, though if I go upstairs from the base station, I do encounter some occasional zones where reception drops off. I can't say as how good the reception would be if I went outside to deck or yard -- an occurrence unlikely at the moment, since it's sub-zero outside where I live. They feel like expensive headphones and look nice as well. But they are expensive! Others have mentioned that the controls on the right earpiece take a little to get used to. Maybe it was the forewarnings, but I had no trouble. 6 months later - update Takes some pretty fancy technology to really impress me these days, and but these headphones are nothing but perfection. I have used high end corded headphones for a long time, and have always preferred Sennheiser. The headphones are light & I hardly noticed that they were, in fact, on my head. I like that the charging station gives them a "home" to go to.
The sound is excellent and they are comfortable even after hours of use. I've had no problems with range in our house -- work well in all rooms.
