Outstanding - Buy Headphones Online Review

By Emily Flores

On the other hand, if the earphone charging station and transmitter were separated, I guess they might both need AC power, which would increase the cost of the unit. There is also a split-second delay between the time you hear something on the TV speakers, and the time you hear the same thing on the headphones. The controllers are laid out to make it easy to find the correct knob without having to take the headphones off. There is also an ALC button on the base that amplifies voices -- useful when you have the volume turned down low.

When, in time, the batteries are exhausted, I can simply purchase replacements at the grocery store and change them out in less than a minute. I was SO PLEASED with the RS 180, that I purchased a second pair to carry with me to field locations. There are a lot of controls that take some getting used to, but once you learn where the controls are it's easy to adjust the volume, etc. These are over the ear, open style with velour pads which makes for very comfortable listening. The ultimate test was the television with 5.1 surround sound. When these headphones were plugged into the home theatre system, for the first time he was happy.

With a bit more smarts, the headphones could be made to standby in a low power mode, then ramp up when it detected a signal from the transmitter. Maybe that's too much to ask for the price. Initial charge time is around 16 hours but I couldn't wait so I used them after 12 hours. Five hours later, I went to bed but the sound was still great.

When they're ready, start the source, hold down the button on the base for a few seconds until it blinks, and hold down the button on your headphone for a few seconds. They handle sound-levels so well that you might be a little deceived. They feel like expensive headphones and look nice as well. But they are expensive! The headphones presented a very wide soundstage with ample presence but not too much "air". As I stated above these are very warm sounding headphones.

The one characteristic that was accurate in my experience when using them was regarding the control bottoms in the headset. They are difficult to feel and distinguish; a really small inconvenience considering the remarkable performance of the product. The volume up and down are aligned left and right of each other, but there is a power button in the middle - making it easy to turn off. To make it more complicated, these 3 buttons are all unique sizes and shapes from one another, and don't feel like arrows or anything relative to what their function is. However, there are a few things that really frustrate me about these cans. The much mentioned volume buttons that are too small are just one. Dual driver models needed for decent bass. I bought this as a gift for my boyfriend's birthday (at his request).
