An Option To V150 - Rf Wireless Headphones Review

By Chloe Hill

When I decided on the RS-180 I bought it from J & R because their customer service is outstanding. The DVD product guide estimated an initial charge of up to 16 hours, but mine was ready for blastoff in about 7. That's what I wanted to do with this purchase, so mission accomplished. I have a friend that has an older set (HDR 130) of these head phones and I tried them out.

In almost every respect, these Sennheiser RS 180 Digital Wireless Headphones are excellent: - The good experience starts with the packaging. The main box, the two inner boxes and the inner plastic container are very well designed and built like tanks. Since it cannot process the lossless codecs via bit stream, everything was fed to it as PCM. This caused the receiver to automatically apply its own processing (aptly named Headphone 2CH). I have not heard any interference or distortion due to it being wireless. These are the best wireless headphones ever. The uncompressed digital really makes a difference. The only negative as mentioned in earlier reviews is the buttons which could be more defined which would make it easier when they are on your head but this isn't a show stopper. Setup was quick and easy. The base station charges the headphones when you place them on top, which I do at the end of the day. The surround sounds are incredible. It makes watching movies with outstanding sound tracks a real treat.

Guys if you are ever banished to the Man Cave and still catch hell for the TV or movie being up too loud......worry no more. I realize they are a lot of money (I managed to get mine for under $230) but I think in the long run they are going to be worth every penny. However, I have not tried them outside. As at least one other reviewer pointed out, the controls are difficult to use with the headphones in use.

It looks far better than the RS 120s or 130s. If you've got to look at them all the time then they should look good and these do. The Sennheiser RS 180 Headphones exceeded all of my requirements. There is ample room for over the ear hearing aids in the muffs if you need additional sound clarification and tweaking, but the sound quality is so great you don't really need them. The only "real" problem I've run into so far has to do with the charging time. They're supposed to be fully charged after 18 or 20 hours if I remember correctly.

The Sennheiser RS 180 is a solid performing unit thus far. It charges simply and easily.
