Rio De Janeiro Brazil Visitors Attractions You Shouldn't Avoid

By Simone Ribeiro

Sugarloaf Mountain stands in the bay 1300 feet (395 meters) over the sea and guards the entry to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Every first time visitor to Rio should make the journey up to the top of this excellent hill. The peak is reached via a 2 stage cable car. The passenger will benefit from sweeping vistas of Ipanema and Copacabana Beaches towards the west, together with greater Rio de Janeiro in the east.

The impressive one hundred twenty five ft. high Christ the Redeemer Sculpture that appears upon Corcovado Mountain, has been watching over the metropolis with outstretched arms since 1931. It truly is probably the most visited of the Rio de Janeiro attractions. Almost as extraordinary as the statue itself are definitely the sights of Rio and the neighboring zones from the platform at the base.

A brief travel time by cab or tour van will take you to the "Floresta da Tijuca" which is a section of a larger sized national park. This park is all that remains in the Rio area of the "Mata Atlantica" (Atlantic coastal rainforest). Any journey to Brazil needs to include a guided Rio de Janeiro sightseeing visit to the Tijuca Forest. Whether you stop at the primary sights by tour van, or take an all day trekking journey, you'll find a very memorable outdoor adventure.

The Jardim Botanico (Botanical Garden) was developed by the Prince Regent Dom Joao in 1808, after the Portuguese royal family left Europe from the coming of Napoleon's troops. These substantial exotic landscapes include more than 1/2 sq. mile and include a large number of kinds of exotic plants and trees. Jardim Botanico is a short cab or bus trip from Copacabana or Ipanema, so do not lose out on this wonderful 1/2 day excursion!

The historical Bohemian locations of Lapa and Santa Teresa are encountering rebirth and revitalization after many years of decay. Lapa can be found right behind the city center and is connected with its renowned aqueduct (Arcos da Lapa) upon which the Tram (Bonde) runs up and back from the hillside community of Santa Teresa. Lapa is the place of many Samba as well as other music clubs and dancing halls and should be visited during the night.
